FAQ's

Q: Why Choose Us?

A: Fitness 121 is a collective of dedicated trainers brought together by the belief that fitness is best displayed in life and not in a "gym". Your training sessions are always varied and highly efficient. The atmosphere is one of fun and support to anyone willing to truly improve fitness.

We believe that better movement and increased range of motion are the cornerstones of fitness and that quality "coaching" is an essential part of your experience at Fitness 121.

Fitness 121 Personal Training has an array of diverse clients. We have lawyers, teachers, college athletes, and doctors. We have moms, dads, grandmas and grandpas. We have clients who are old, young, and everywhere in between. Some move very well, some not so well (but they will). The things they share are motivation, an open mind and a desire for success. Those are the characteristics that we have built our business on since 1994.

A: Fitness 121 is a real world driven fitness program. We are an assembly of dedicated trainers who want our clients to become stronger, leaner, faster, and more coordinated. We help mold our clients into better functioning beings. We mix body weight exercises, weightlifting (control of external objects), and cardiovascular training in as many ways as possible. The result is that you will move, feel and BE better. In a word FIT.

Your workouts will be challenging and never boring. All fitness levels from college athletes to grandmothers can participate in Personal Training. Our staff is supportive, enthusiastic and welcoming to anyone who is willing to learn and put in the work.
Fitness 121 is not an ordinary gym. But it is for ordinary people looking for the most effective and efficient exercise programs in a fun, supportive & professional environment.

Q: I'm very busy, I wake up and seem to work all day. Can I benefit from exercise being so Time-Crunched?

A: A professionally designed fitness program only requires 40-50 minutes 2-3 days per week to yield substantial benefits. For those needing to lose weight, we suggest adding another 2 days of Aerobic Exercise for 20-30 minutes.

A: We don't call it "weight lifting", we call it "strength training". That's because strength training has been shown to improve muscle tone and increase metabolism. Long term, strength training has demonstrated the ability to improve bone mineral density and thereby combat the effects of osteoporosis.

A: In the 1920's Joseph Pilates invented a system of movement and exercise with the goal in mind of strengthening and stretching the muscles. Over the years Pilate's original ideas were expanded into the field of rehabilitation and athletics, but it remained relatively unknown to the general public. During the last decade, however, it has become very popular as an alternative form of exercise.

A: Fitness training can benefit anyone even if a program begins late in life. Strength training will increase functional strength which is used for daily living or recreational activities. Fitness 121 specializes in working with Older Adults and 1st time exercisers.

A: Yes, Every athletic movement is nothing more than a series of muscular contractions. The quality of the muscular engine, it's operating efficiency, endurance and power will to a large degree determine the ability of the athlete to perform at his or her optimum.

A: This is perhaps your most important visit to Fitness 121. After a review of your Health History and Exercise Background, we will begin your Fitness Evaluation. Measurements will be taken of your resting Blood Pressure and Heart Rate. You may be measured to determine your Body Mass Index (BMI) as this is a significant test in assessing your risk profile for a number of health issues. Your evaluation will include a test of your Cardiovascular Fitness, a Movement Assessment to determine joint health and mobility, and finally, some strength exercises to measure Muscular Fitness. After a review of your results; your personal fitness trainer will explain to you in detail each aspect of your fitness program.
